BCNG Portals Page: "“We received a $10,000 grant from the province after the tsunami in south east Asia last year,” says Aaron Dawson, the city’s bylaw compliance officer and assistant to the city’s fire chief in emergency preparedness. “It can be used for things other than a tsunami. Basically it’s a hazard program.”
At Parksville’s recently held protective services committee meeting Dawson and fire Chief Doug Banks were on hand with a progress report on the initiative so far, consisting primarily of an awareness program and a community plan that will be developed and presented to interested groups or organizations."
