SCANUSA

Folks,

My quest to find a rapid means to notify the entire community including all the outlying areas and Lincoln County has finally come to fruition. It's FREE. It's new and you may not have heard about it yet. I hope you visit the link included in this mail and find out what a great thing we have here as a communication tool. AT&T and government have come together to create the technology to bring this system to all Americans. Here is what it does...

Say there is an alert. Let's pick a tsunami alert for instance. Scan USA is tuned into all Emergency alert centers. They receive the alert and pass it to their network. If you are a registered user the alert will come to you in the following ways (pick as many as you want) FAX,Email,Cell phone,Aol Messenger,Yahoo Messenger,ICQ, MSN Messenger. Within seconds of it being broadcast.

You pick from a list (again as many as you want) of alert types you want. Here are the types of alerts:
  • FDA Recall
  • Neighborhood Crime
  • Public Safety Announcement
  • Local Emergency Alert
  • Homland Security Alert
  • Fire
  • Traffic Emergency
  • Health Advisory
  • Weather Alert
  • Tsunami Alert
  • Health Emergency
  • Environmental Alert
  • Cyber Alert
  • Consumer Fraud
  • Consumer Information
  • Sexual Predator Alert
Now some of them will require you professionals.. Police and Fire Cheif's to register with them so that you can put on local alerts. Think of how you will be able to impact the safety of the community just by having an alert broadcast! Things that never could be put out in time before are out to the public instantly.

Take a look. Here is the link...Take a look.

We are thinking this is a good way to get Neighborhood Watch notification of really important emergencies.

A summary of Ice Storms in Oregon RT

Ice storms: "A warm front overrunning cold air trapped in western Oregon valleys and the Columbia Gorge produced an ice storm causing widespread disruption of traffic and power outages in the Willamette Valley and Coast Range valleys. Freezing rain began over the Willamette Valley during the afternoon of February 3 and continued throughout the night and into the next day. Numerous traffic accidents were reported including a 100 car minor damage pileup near Salem. One fatality occurred when a car lost control on the ice, slid off the road and flipped over near Lincoln City."
